Post-Operative Care for Eye Surgery
Please follow these instructions carefully for a safe and speedy recovery!
01
Possible Symptoms During Recovery
Conjunctival swelling, redness, or minor bloody tears may occur and are normal after surgery. These symptoms usually subside within 1–2 weeks and are considered part of the normal healing process.
02
Wound Care & Medications
Take prescribed medications on time as directed. Eye drops may be used immediately after surgery. Be careful not to irritate the surgical site when applying drops. Apply a thin layer of eye ointment about twice daily to prevent dryness at the incision area.
03
Swelling Management
Use an ice pack 3–5 times daily for the first 3 days, placing a clean gauze between the pack and your skin. From the 5th day onward, switch to warm compresses to promote healing.
04
Suture Removal
Keep the surgical site dry until sutures are removed. Gentle face washing is allowed, avoiding the incision area. For the buried suture method, removal is done at 3 days, and for other methods, typically at 5–7 days post-op.
05
Sleep & Daily Activities
Sleep with your upper body slightly elevated. Avoid sleeping on your side or stomach. Take care not to press the surgical area during sleep. Light walking from the 2nd day onward may help reduce swelling.
06
Washing · Makeup · Contact Lenses
Light showers are allowed the day after surgery, but avoid direct water contact with your eyes. Eye makeup should be avoided for at least 4 weeks. Contact lenses may be worn after about one month, once conjunctival healing is sufficient.
07
No Alcohol & Smoking
Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol for at least 4 weeks. Both can interfere with wound healing and increase the risk of infection.
08
Surgical Results
Major swelling usually subsides in about 2 weeks, but final results are best evaluated after 2–3 months. The appearance will continue to improve over time, so please don’t worry about early changes. If you have any concerns, feel free to contact our clinic for guidance.
We provide customized plastic surgery solutions tailored to each individual’s unique facial structure and features.
